It’s a scary place out there right now…for bats! For Halloween, come hear three scary stories about bats confronted with a changing world–and how they’re responding. There’s little brown bats faced with the introduced disease white-nose syndrome, evening bats facing climate change, and silver-haired bats encountering urban landscapes on their migratory journeys. How these bats respond highlights the diverse ways in which animals can cope with our changing world.

Event will be held virtually over zoom.

About the Speaker:

Giorgia Auteri received her B.S. in Public Affairs from Indiana University in 2009 and is currently a PhD student studying ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Michigan. She has worked with bats over the past 10 years on a broad variety of questions. Her current work is focused on short timescale evolution of bats in response to the exotic disease white-nose syndrome. However, she maintains collaborations with those studying bats in a variety of contexts, including considerations of their behavior and ecology.
