Join the Bat Association of MSU and the Zoological Student Association for our third official Bat Walk Wednesday, Sept 26th!
RSVP on Facebook Here and Share!
We will be leading a walk along the Red Cedar and with the help of the Wildlife Acoustics Echo Meter Touch Pro 2, we will be listening to the echolocation signatures of the bats in the area and talking about the different behaviors and ecological importance of Michigan’s 9 native bat species.
If you have an iphone, download the Wildlife Acoustics Echo Meter App and you can have the chance to save some bat recordings to your phone.
***This is a free educational event open to all. This event is also dependent on weather, and may be re-sheduled if there is rain. ***
Is there any bat walks scheduled for october. My daughter and i just saw yourflyer this past weekend at the vet med building and were interested.
Unfortunately, many of the bats in the area are transitioning to hibernation for the winter, or have started to migrate south. We are hoping to have one more in the Spring (probably last week of school) when the bats emerge again, so stay tuned! Follow our facebook page for more immediate updates! We will also have other events happening over the winter as well! https://www.facebook.com/batsmsu
